Every garden is different, so I tailor the design process to the project. Whether I'm working with a homeowner on a complete garden transformation or collaborating with an architect on a new-build or renovation, my aim is to create a landscape that feels considered from the outset and remains connected to the architecture, place and people who inhabit it.

  • We begin with a conversation and a visit to the garden. I want to understand how you live, what you want from the space and what isn't currently working.

    I then look at the garden in its wider context — the architecture, proportions, materials, views, orientation, levels, existing planting and surrounding landscape. These observations form the foundation of the design

    This stage may include:

    • Site review, measurements and analysis

    • Site photography and observations

    • Initial conversations about brief, lifestyle and aspirations

  • The concept brings these ideas together into a clear vision for the garden. I explore the overall layout, atmosphere, materials and planting, considering how the landscape can complement the architecture while creating a space that feels personal to you.

    This stage may include:

    • Concept and mood boards

    • Material and planting palettes

    • Draft concept layout plan

    • In-person presentation

    • One round of amendments

  • Once the overall direction is agreed, I develop the design in greater detail. This is where the ideas become a resolved landscape that can be priced and built.

    This stage may include:

    • Detailed masterplan

    • Planting design and plant schedule

    • Detailed scale drawings

    • Elevations and key details

    • Materials and finishes

  • I can help take the finished design into a garden, working with landscape contractors and suppliers to ensure the design is understood and delivered as intended.

    This stage may include:

    • Liaison with up to three suppliers

    • Review of contractor quotations

    • Coordination with suppliers during the installation

    • Site visits to inspect the hard landscaping installation

  • Planting is an integral part of the design and is considered alongside the architecture, materials and wider landscape.

    I can source plants and trees and work with the installation team to ensure the planting is positioned and established according to the design.

  • A garden isn’t finished when the last plant goes in. Planting changes with the seasons and matures over time, becoming an increasingly important part of the character of the space.

    I can provide ongoing planting advice and support as the garden establishes, helping it develop into the landscape we originally imagined.
